Welcome to the Jonesboro (AR) Branch of AAUW!

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. Our nonpartisan, nonprofit organization has more than 170,000 members and supporters across the United States, as well as 1,000 local branches and 800 college and university partners. Since AAUW’s founding in 1881, our members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.

AAUW’s Mission
AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.

AAUW’s Value Promise
By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women and girls have a fair chance.

The Jonesboro Branch was organized in February 1934, at Arkansas State College (now Arkansas State University). In the Fall of 1935, the Branch began work on what was to be its biggest and most lasting project – a county library.

The Branch has produced AAUW leaders at the local, state and national level over the years. It is currently active in local affairs and has established an annual award given to a local high school art student. It is the Brenda Heringer Art Award, named after a lifetime AAUW member.

The Branch meets at 9:00 AM on the third Saturday morning of the month, September through December and February through May at the Jonesboro Public Library.
